How to Braid Cornrows

At first plan your cornrow style and decide what exactly the style you are looking for. Better way to do this is just draw a picture in paper or else use visual simulator tools which is freely available for download around the net. Be prepared with your needs like say have clean water, comb, brush and more than 2 mirrors in different sizes.

You probably want to plan out your style. This is the most important step of all. If you go ahead and have an idea of what you want the dreadlocks to look like, then you are ahead of the game. Do this in your head or put it down on paper. It does not matter how you go about doing this planning. The only important thing is that you have this idea in your head.

In order to start with the dreadlocks, you are going to have to get some water and go at it. Generally, you want to get water that is mixed with some sort of detangling substance. Brush the hair and get rid of the tangled mess. It is much easier to make braids with hair that is a little bit wet because you will not have to spend too much effort applying tension to the locks. It is always easier to achieve a nice, tight braid if you have this wetness. This will, in turn, keep you from having to pull the hair tightly away from the scalp.

You will continue this process by going ahead and parting one of the sections of hair where you want a cornrow. Figure out exactly where you want the cornrow to appear. Once you have done this, take a little bit of that hair and go to work. Be careful not to take too much, though, as this will make it difficult to work near the scalp.

To continue, hold the two strands on the outside and pull them aside. Reach beneath the first braid and add some hair to the middle strand that you have created. You will want to try to bring the new hair and make it apart of the middle section of hair. This will give you three strands of hair.

You must continue braiding in this exact way. Each time you braid, you will want to add a little bit more to the middle strand that has been established. You will keep going with this same process until there is nothing left to add to the middle strand.

Once you have made the cornrow, you need to secure it. Do so with a hair clip, tie clip, or any other sort of hair hold product. Make sure that it is something temporary that will be easy to get rid of after the hold is made.

You can find a lot of catalogs with cornrows styles for men and women with your hairdresser.
